Despite being one of the world's wealthiest cities, London's child poverty rates are extremely high. Half of the children in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham grow up in poverty (source: Trust for London) and the community suffers from the city's highest rates of child obesity and domestic violence (source: LBBD.gov.uk).
Launching in September 2022, the mission of Urban Promise UK is to equip children and young people, through Christ, with the skills necessary for spiritual, academic, and personal transformation. We will seek to fulfil this mission through Urban Promise's signature Street Leader program as well as after school and summer programs. We will provide fun activities that promote learning, well-being, and hope; offering academic support, healthy food, and the tools to overcome barriers to opportunity.
